“Mumma, Let’s Paint Together”: The Simple Invitation That Began a Journey

Sometimes the most meaningful help is not advice. It is company.

A Child Who Sensed the Sadness

In the first artwork of the book, “A Heart in Bloom,” Seema Agrawal Choudhary describes a time when depression had taken away her smile. Her daughter Angel, a Grade 8 student studying in a hostel, could sense the sadness her mother carried. Instead of asking how she was feeling or trying to cheer her up with words, she picked up an empty glass bottle and said, “Mumma, let’s paint together.”

A Heart That Appeared on Its Own

They painted soft blue shades with tiny white flowers. Without planning it, the flowers formed the shape of a heart. That heart became their symbol.

What We Can Learn

When someone we love is struggling, we do not always need the right words. Sometimes sitting beside them and doing something simple together is enough. The author writes that her daughter did not know she was giving therapy, she only wanted to spend time with her mother.

This is a reminder that small acts of love matter.
