Some authors write to share success. Seema Agrawal Choudhary wrote to tell readers something she once needed to hear: healing is possible.
Behind the Smile
People described Seema as a strong woman, a happy wife, a caring mother of two, and a counsellor who helped others. What very few people knew was that she was silently losing a battle with her own mind. In the book she writes that strength is often the best disguise for pain.
She also faced misunderstanding. Some people suggested rituals, some blamed superstition, and some judged without understanding. The book describes how a family can be pulled between fear and medical care, and how much it matters to treat depression as an illness, not a weakness.
A Reason to Write It Down
Seema says the book exists so that if it helps even one person understand depression a little better, or encourages one family to find hope, every tear behind the paintings will have found its purpose.
Breaking the Silence
Her husband, Abhishek Choudhary, writes in the foreword that he hopes husbands who read the book understand that mental health is real, and that sitting beside someone and listening can matter more than advice. Dr. Rajeev Ranjan Singh, Principal of Mother Teresa Public School, says the book breaks society’s silence with honesty and dignity.
Who in your life might need to hear that they are not alone?
