The Recipe Heirloom is much more than a cookbook. It is a celebration of food, family, memories and the traditions that connect generations.

Born and brought up in a Jain family in Delhi and later married into a Gujarati Brahmin family, Arti Bhatt brings together recipes that have travelled through homes, families and generations. Some are everyday favourites, some belong to festivals and special occasions, while others are treasured recipes that might otherwise slowly disappear from our kitchens.

Alongside the recipes are personal memories and stories, of parents and grandparents, sisters and in-laws, festivals and weddings, journeys and family gatherings. Each dish has a story, and each story carries the warmth of a home.

At its heart, The Recipe Heirloom is about the belief that food is never just food. It is love served on a plate, memories preserved in a recipe, and a legacy passed from one generation to the next.

This book is Arti’s humble tribute to her parents and to all the people who have guided, nurtured and enriched her journey.
